  • On 29th May, Wimbledon MP Paul Kohler brokered the meeting between AELTC and the Save Wimbledon Park Group 4 years after it was first mooted by his predecessor
  • Mr Kohler set up the meeting, saying he hoped to find a compromise that works for both the club and the community
  • AELTC and the Save Wimbledon Park Group both committed to further meetings and a continuing dialogue

On 29th May in Parliament, Wimbledon MP Paul Kohler chaired the long-awaited meeting between the All England Lawn and Tennis Club (AELTC) and Save Wimbledon Park (SWP) group, to discuss AELTC’s expansion plans.

Mr Kohler and Merton Liberal Democrats are fighting for a fair deal for residents on Wimbledon Park, working closely with SWP Group to ensure residents' voices are heard.

SWP’s grassroots campaign to stop the AELTC redevelopment raised £120,000 through public donations, to fund its legal challenge against the Mayor of London’s decision to grant planning permission.

The meeting today was held ‘without prejudice’ due to the ongoing litigation, but was productive with all parties committing to a continuing dialogue.

Liberal Democrat MP for Wimbledon, Paul Kohler said:

“I was really pleased to be able to bring both sides together for a constructive conversation. I look forward to continuing to work with both the All England Club and the Save Wimbledon Park Group on this issue.”
