To celebrate World Car Free Day and champion an initiative called Play Streets, Merton Council is giving residents the opportunity to close their road for a few hours on Sunday 19 and Sunday 26 September. Play Streets aim to provide safe spaces for children to play freely and for residents to get to know their neighbours. Merton’s Climate Action Group is also encouraging the community to use the time to come together to share tips on reducing their carbon footprint. Visit the Council’s Play Streets page to find out more and apply to set one up on your road.
Stop South Western Railway Cuts
South Western Railway propose to cut services to many stations in our Borough, including Motspur Park, Raynes Park and Wimbledon. At a time when we should be encouraging more people onto the railways, we’re appalled by the Department of Transport’s insistence on reducing services as a cost cutting measure.
