Increase Access To Electric Charging in Merton
Despite greatly increased on-street parking charges for petrol/diesel vehicles in many parts of Merton, less than 2% of residents’ parking permits are currently the £20 permits available for electric vehicles.
Many residents across Merton rely on on-street parking. We, the undersigned, therefore call on the council to improve charging provision for electric vehicles across Merton but especially in areas like South Wimbledon and Raynes Park so that those who would like to switch to an electric vehicle can do so.
We request the council urgently create a strategic plan, using evidence of what works from neighbouring boroughs, to make electric charging practical for all residents.
