London's poor air quality must be addressed, says Tuffrey PDF Print E-mail

Mike TuffreyMike Tuffrey, Liberal Democrat London Assembly member, has called for London's poor air quality to be improved.

Speaking at the first Talking Politics policy forum meeting hosted by Merton Lib Dems, Tuffrey highlighted the threat air pollution poses to the health of the most vulnerable in society - children and the elderly - as well as its effect on asthma sufferers.

Tuffrey also pointed out the effect of airports on air pollution, singling out Heathrow and associated transport to and from the terminals as one of the worst polluters in outer London.

Talking Politics is a new regular event hosted by Merton Liberal Democrats, intended to stimulate debate on political issues that impact the Merton area.  The next Talking Politics, on the topic "What should the Government do next?", will take place on Thursday 1st March.
