Campaigning against the closure of the hospital, MPs Susan Kramer and Ed Davey with Nick Clegg and local residentsWimbledon's Parliamentary candidate, Shas Sheehan has vowed to fight plans to close A&E and Maternity services at Kingston Hospital.

Senior NHS staff have recently blown the whistle on Labour proposals to close Accident and Emergency services and Maternity services at Kingston Hospital.

South West London Liberal Democrat MPs Susan Kramer (Richmond Park) and Edward Davey (Kingston and Surbiton) have been told this information by 5 senior NHS staff, including 4 chief executives and 1 senior clinician, at 4 separate meetings.

The proposals are part of a review of acute hospital services in London. However, we understand that NHS bosses are trying to keep the plans secret until after the General Election.

Shas said: "We know from the NHS survey we did in this area that many people use Kingston as their local hospital. These proposals would gut our hospital and send people on a longer journey to St George's in Tooting to get help".
