Results of the local and General elections on 6 May 2010.
Local elections A fantastic result in West Barnes ward ward, where Mary-Jane Jeanes and Iain Dysart were elected as Liberal Democrat councillors, with Nazir Malik narrowly missing out.
The team in Lavender Fields in Mitcham, Pete Hardy, Nadeem Mirza and Eliane Patton put in a solid performance, achieving a swing to them and a 17% share of the vote - a good first time result.
In Dundonald ward we achieved a 35% share of the vote, a 15% increase on 2006 - Martin Lewis Crosby was only 140 votes behind the Conservatives. The team was pleased that it was so close it went to a full recount.
Liberal Democrat candidates moved into second place in Raynes Park, Wimbledon Park, Hillside, Graveney, Village and overtook the Green Party in Colliers Wood (and pushing the Conservatives for second). There was a strong performance too in Cannon Hill, Cricket Green and Abbey.
Full results can be seen here.
General Election A brilliant campaign by Shas Sheehan in Wimbledon saw the Liberal Democrats move into second place with a 7% increase in share of the vote to 25% and a solid performance by Diana Coman in Mitcham & Morden successfully resisted the Labour party "squeeze" - see here.
These achievements a real testament to the hard work put in by everyone - from candidates, to helpers and activists, those who donated money, delivered leaflets and displayed posters!
