WIMBLEDON ELECTION ADDRESSES

tn_stevegee3In his election address in April 2005, Wimbledon candidate Stephen Gee said, "Liberal Democrats are the only serious challenge to Labour in Wimbledon because only they have the policies to benefit hard-working people disillusuioned with the other parties. You might be told that a vote for the Lib Dems is a wasted vote, but only by voting for a change do we have the chance to restore trust in Government.

"MPs should be champions for the areas they represent, and my priority would be to increase resources for local police, NHS and social services. Recently, I have been coordinating a campaign against Government policies that are undermining our local post offices.

"Liberal Democrat proposals will help create a fair and open society, where the views of individuals and communities are valued above those of the state."

A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM STEPHEN ON 6th MAY 2005

"A fantastic effort from Merton Liberal Democrats saw us increase our overall share of the vote by 5.1% (from 13% to 18.1%) - by far the best increase in this area, including in the seats we hold, not to mention in Putney, Hammersmith and Battersea, and just pipping Jo in Mitcham & Morden. A great result for the Merton Liberal Democrats.

Thanks to everyone who helped in organising, delivering, canvassing, telling, or who donated money, stood outside stations in the cold, worked with the media, or did any of the many other jobs required in a General Election campaign. Everyone put in a great effort and, most importantly, had fun and remained positive throughout.

Let's keep up the momentum and ensure that we regain council seats in Merton in 2006".
