May 2010 - Election results: Local Lib Dems are celebrating some of the most successful Local and General Election results since the 1980s. We held are own in the Parliamentary election in Mitcham & Morden, despite a heavy 'squeeze' by a Labour party. In the local elections, we were pleased to elect two new Liberal Democrat councillors in nearby West Barnes, with the increased share of the vote for the full team in Lavender Fields ward and to achieve second place in Graveney ward, with large increases in the share of the vote in many other wards. April 2010 - Plan for a better Northern Line upgrade: Caroline Pidgeon, Lib Dem chair of the London Assembly's Transport Committee, has proposed a five-point plan to get the Northern line upgrade completed with the minimum possible disruption to residents and businesses who rely on the line.

April 2010 - Nick Clegg the winner in historic TV debate - YouGov poll: A poll forThe Sun asked "Leaving aside your own party preference, who do you think performed best overall in tonight's debate?"
The result was: Nick Clegg: 51%; David Cameron: 29%; Gordon Brown: 19%; Don't know: 2%

March 2010 - Voluntary sector in Merton: Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Diana Coman reports on the Merton Voluntary Services Council AGM on 30 March, which was followed by a 'question time' event for local political representatives, to take questions about the issues affecting the voluntary sector in Merton.

January 2010 - Government won't step in to protect funding for Mitcham schools: Following the news that Merton Council was considering diverting funding intended to improve Mitcham schools to build new classrooms in Wimbledon schools, the Secretary of State for Schools said that there were no grounds for intervening. October 2009 - Labour fails to match words with actions on environment: Diana Coman, Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Mitcham & Morden, has the story on how Labour MPs refused to back a vote calling for Government, Parliament and all public sector bodies to cut their carbon pollution by 10% by the end of 2010. Diana had written to Mitcham & Morden's Labour MP encouraging her to back the plans; however, she voted against the plans.

October 2008 - Mitcham & Morden Lib Dems select Parliamentary candidate:
At a packed meeting, Diana Coman was selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the next General Election. Diana was previously a councillor in Sutton where she held a number of leadership roles. Diana was born in St Helier Hospital, grew up in Merton and has lived in Wimbledon and Sutton. She has a keen interest in local history and politics, the environment and community relations.
